After a fantastic opening day display and a 0-3 drubbing of Udinese on the road, Juventus slipped up in Gameweek 2, playing only a 1-1 stalemate at home against Bologna.

It was a subpar performance overall from Massimiliano Allegri’s men who failed to create enough in the final third, registering only three shots on target in a match in which they had o chase the score for most of the time.

I Bianconeri are now hoping to return to winning ways on Sunday evening when they visit Stadio Carlo Castellani for the Matchday No 3 fixture against Empoli.

Empoli are yet to claim their maiden point(s) in the 2023/24 campaign, following defeats to Verona and Monza.

The fact they’ve failed to score a goal against these two outfits is certainly worrying for head coach Paolo Zanetti.

If we count preseason friendlies and the start of their Coppa Italia run, Empoli are currently on a four-loss streak. They’ve scored just one goal along the way and it came in a 1-2 home defeat to lower-division Cittadella in the opening round of Coppa Italia.

Since Juventus’ defensive line looked decent throughout the preseason (a 3-1 win against Real Madrid and a 0-0 draw to Atalanta in the final two summer checks), we fancy the visitors to keep things quiet at the back on Sunday.
