Dynamo Kyiv vs Barcelona Prediction & Match Preview

Aron Wright - November 23, 2020

Dynamo Kyiv vs Barcelona
UEFA Champions League
Date: Tuesday, 24 November 2020
Kick-off at 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET
Venue: NSC Olimpiyskiy Stadium.

The Catalans are at the top of the table with a perfect winning streak so far. Should they secure one more win this Tuesday, the team could mathematically ensure that they would have a spot in the knockouts.

However, they would greatly prefer to finish as the group champions, as that would allot them a comparatively easier opponent. And since Juve are just behind, lagging by just three points, Ronald Koeman’s men will have to keep their pace up, and make sure that they do not drop points.

The Spanish contingent does have a great h2h record against this rival, and even had recorded a win in the reverse fixture.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainians are going through an off-performing stretch of games, and they have historically struggled against Spanish rivals as well.

Finally, Mircea Lucescu’s men are desperate for a win (considering that they have posted a total of one point on the board, and one more loss would practically rule them out of the knockouts), and Koeman’s men will try to smartly take advantage of this fact.

Likely, expect Barcelona to keep their winning streak in the UCL alive.

Dynamo Kyiv vs Barcelona: Head-to-head (h2h)

  • The Catalans are on a winning run against this opponent since 2009, and have scored two or more goals in all such fixtures.
  • The last they lost against this opponent was back in 1997.
  • Lucescu’s men were winless in 14 of the former 17 matches against other La Liga teams.
  • Lionel Messi and his boys have won seven of the preceding nine encounters against other Ukrainian rivals.

Dynamo Kyiv vs Barcelona: Prediction

The Blaugrana recorded a 2-1 win in their latest CL fixture, at home, against this same opponent.

Moving on, Koeman’s men were unbeaten in 11 of their former 14 overall games, and they had also won two of their last three fixtures. And on the road, they had lost just twice in their past eleven match-ups.

On the other hand, the Ukrainians had lost two of their previous three match-ups, and they were winless in five of their preceding nine games. And at home, they were winless in three of their past four appearances.

On top of that, Koeman’s men have a winning record against this opponent since 2009, and they have a terrific h2h record against other Ukrainian squads as well.

As such, expect Barcelona to secure a win this Tuesday. And since Lucescu’s men are desperate for a win, they will leave spaces at the back, and will go after an all-out-attack mode. The five-time European champions, who are desperate to prove their worth, will take advantage of this and score in plenty.
