Dundalk vs Shamrock Rovers
Irish Premier Division
Date: 30 June 2023, Friday
Kick-off at 19:45 UK / 20:45 CET
Venue: Oriel Park (Dundalk).
Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers will continue their rough and busy Premier Division schedule on Friday night when they meet each other in the Matchday No 22 at Oriel Park.
Both teams were in action on Monday in their respective 25th round derbies against St. Patrick’s Athletic and Derry City.
Shamrock left a much better impression in a 1-0 victory over Derry City, leaving the rivals without a single attempt on target in the 90 minutes of play four days ago at Tallaght Stadium.
The defending champions are now seven points clear at the top of the league table and they will be looking to increase advantage here with a strong display against Dundalk.
The hosts do have three wins and a draw in the last four Premier Division affairs but they revealed all limits in their game on Monday, barely avoiding a defeat in a 1-1 draw to St. Patrick’s at Oriel Park.
Dundalk are now fourth in the league table and they have lost just two of eleven league fixtures on the home patch this term.
Nevertheless, these records count for little when they come face to face with the strongest team in the country.
Shamrock Rovers boast by far the best attacking record in the league with 47 goals in 23 outings.
Rory Gaffney and Graham Burke make a deadly attacking duo. They have scored 15 goals combined so far in the season and they will have enough space to hurt Dundalk’s defense on Friday without a doubt.
Shamrock are the best team in the country and we have to back them against any rival in this competition at the 1.83 odds. The visitors are on a run of four wins and a draw in the last five outings and they are sovereign Premier Division leaders at the moment.
Since Shamrock limited second-placed Derry City to just three attempts (zero on target) on Monday night, we like the 2.62 odds for the champions to keep a clean sheet on Friday at Oriel Park.
