Dijon vs Angers

Both of these clubs struggled at times last season with Dijon just managing to survive in Ligue 1 so they will be looking to get off to a positive start when they host Angers.
This season marks only Dijon’s 23rd in their history. Dijon had a mixed pre-season beating Ligue 2 side Paris FC 2-0 but they also lost 2-1 to Metz. Their last game ended in a 1-0 defeat at Lens and in their last 3 games they were able to score just 1 goal.
Angers are becoming regulars of Ligue 1 football now and the new season will mean the club have spent the last six seasons in the top flight. Last season they had up and down moments but were able to finish 11th which is respectable for them.
Stephane Moulin will again take charge of the team, he has been coach since 2011 which in this day and age is remarkable. The club have tried to strengthen by bringing in Paul Bernardoni from Bordeaux for 8 million euros.
Angers had a mixed pre-season but they were able to go their last 3 games without defeat which would have been encouraging. In their last game they beat Saint Etienne 1-0.
Angers are the better team but we must remain cautious given this is the beginning of the season. Angers had a real attacking style last season and have dipped into the transfer market and will want to improve on last season. There have been whispers to play European football. Dijon’s objectives could be different with survival the name of the game. We expect this game to be close but will opt for the away side to get all three points here.
