Dallas Mavericks begin the 2022/23 campaign with a tough away clash against old foes Phoenix Suns whom they shockingly eliminated from the playoffs last time out. There are no doubts the Suns will be extremely motivated for this season opener in front of the home crowd which is particularly why the Mavs will need to step up.
Of course Mavericks do and his name is Luka Doncic. We expect the Slovenian superstar to go big right from the start of the campaign.
He will miss a fantastic secondary playmaker option Jalen Brunson who left for NY in the offseason but we do not have doubts that Luka Magic will show up on Wednesday night. You can chase any player prop that includes Over in Luka’s category, namely points and assists.
Phoenix Suns had a rough five-month period following the painful playoffs exit at the hands of the Mavericks. On top of this elimination, the Suns faced several other unfortunate episodes including the Robert Sarver saga around the selling of the franchise as well as Deandre Ayton’s contract.
At the end nothing changed. Sarver is still the owner and Ayton extended his contract although the Suns actively looked for trade options. The main stars, Devin Booker and Chris Paul, are also still there.
The latter is entering his 18th season. We were amazed by how good Paul looked in the preseason, averaging 10 assist per game for just 25 minutes on the floor on average.
This is a tough matchup to call namely because of the unknowns about the situation in the Suns’ dressing room. This is why we are going to try and get the value by grabbing the plus odds offered on Luka Doncic and his Mavs who are +167 to win in moneyline. The perfect complementary bet would be Luka Doncic Over 29.5 points at the -115 odds.
