Peter Green - July 18, 2019
CSKA Moscow vs Orenburg
Russia – Premier League
Date: Saturday, 20 July 2019
Kick-off at 17:00 UK / 18:00 CET
Venue: Arena CSKA (Moscow).
The hosts will certainly be keen on forgetting the nightmare start that they went off to last week where they suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Samara.
The squad failed to make use of the major share of possession and were wasteful of the opportunities that came their way. What makes the loss even worse would be that they defeated the same opponents by a whopping 6-0 scoreline last season in their final game.
Orenburg lost their opening game against FK Rostov as well and succumbed to a narrow 2-1 defeat.
The visitors went into the back foot ten minutes after the kick-off and trailed by one more two minutes before the break. However, they showed signs of a resurgence by cutting the deficit in half four minutes after the restart.
Despite making as many attempts at goal as their foes, the squad were far less clinical in working the goalkeeper and paid the price for it at the end of the final whistle.
Nothing but the win will be the priority for both the teams as they wait to open their account in the league.
The hosts are likely to taste success when they square up against Orenburg this weekend at the Arena CSKA.
The home advantage that they will be enjoying is certain to fire up the squad while they look to bounce back from the disappointing loss in their previous game.
They certainly have not been shy in creating goal-scoring opportunities, and are likely to be a lot more lethal on home soil, as they were in the previous season.
Their opponents managed to find the back of the net in their last game, and are likely to repeat the same when they take on the home side.
However, the chances of the win and the three points are looming large for the hosts rather than the visitors.
