Cruzeiro has already qualified for the Copa Libertadores by virtue of their victory in the 2018 Copa do Brazil. Maybe a little bit of complacency has crept up in midst of the players because of it, but this weekend is a perfect opportunity for them to shake off unwanted thoughts and to fall into the groove again.
Parana Clube has accepted their fate of certain relegation at the end of the season without much fight. And a tough away game would not do them any favour.
Just eight more matches remain till the end of the season and Parana Clube lie thirteen points behind the second-worst team in the league. The problem becomes more apparent when it’s seen that they have managed just 17 points from 30 matches so far.
Cruzeiro will be facing their easiest challenge in the season in the form of Parana Clube. The home team will convert this into three points with apparent ease. The visiting players are down in form and morale.
The rest of the season is just a formality for the guests. Their fans have already given up hope on their team even though they have not been mathematically eliminated yet.
Goals will be aplenty this match. At the least each half should witness two goals apiece.
Cruzeiro will in all probabilities keep a clean sheet.
