Corinthians will continue their continental adventures in the last 32 round of Copa Sudamericana against Peruvian side Universitario de Deportes.

The first leg is scheduled for Tuesday evening at New Quimica Arena in Sao Paulo where Vanderlei Luxemburgo’s men have been pretty tough to break down lately.

Corinthians have generally been struggling for goals since the beginning of the season. They are having subpar campaigns in both Serie A and in continental competitions.

The story is completely opposite with Universitario who enjoyed a strong Copa Sudamericana run, leaving Independiente Santa Fe and Gimnasia La Plata behind in a very competitive Group G.

The team led by Uruguayan manager Jorge Fossati also got off to a flying start to the Clausura season in the domestic league.

Universitario head into this on the back of three successive wins across competitions, a run that includes the weekend’s 1-4 success away at Academia Cantolao.

Universitario have allowed just one goal in the process. All but one of the last nine games they have played in all competitions saw fewer than three goals scored.

Knowing how tight Corinthians have been under Luxemburgo so far in the season, we have all reasons to expect a low-scoring scenario on Tuesday night in Sao Paulo.
