Columbus Crew will be looking to prolong their extraordinary Leagues Cup run on Friday night when they play host to Minnesota in the last 32 round at Lower.com Field.
The Crew bagged six goals in two group stage wins over St. Louis City and Club America. We were especially impressed with the performance they have shown on Sunday against Mexican heavyweights Club America, winning 4-1 despite conceding an early goal on the occasion.
Striker Cucho stole the show five days ago by completing a brace and delivering an assist for the team’s last goal.
We fancy Cucho to cause big problems to Minnesota’s back line on Friday, especially since Adrian Heath’s troops shipped three goals in their surprising 2.3 defeat to Chicago Fire last time out.
The team led by English coach, however, managed to advance thanks to an earlier 4-0 drubbing of Puebla in a fascinating showing.
It is worth noting that the mentioned loss to Chicago Fire represented Minnesota’s maiden failure in the last four games, following their fine form in the latest MLS matches.
Minnesota United are tenth in the Western Conference table at the moment, desperately chasing the playoffs positions ahead of the final stretch of the season.
Columbus, on the other side, sit sixth on the East despite a run of three straight winless affairs in the league.
