Peter Green - August 4, 2019
Club Bruges vs Dynamo Kiev
Champions League Qualification
Date: Tuesday, 6 August 2019
Kick-off at 19:30 UK / 20:30 CET
Venue: Jan Breydel Stadion (Brugge).
Club Bruges got off to a flying start in their domestic campaign last week, with a 3-1 win over Wassland-Beveren on the road. The last season’s runner’s up missed out on the crown and the ticket to the group stages of the Champions League by no more than a slender two-point gap.
Dynamo Kyiv came in second in their respective campaign as well, behind league leaders Shakhtar, by a 10 point deficit. However, the visitors proved their superiority over the latter by coming out on top in their Super Cup clash last week by a 2-1 scoreline.
Although the away side have also tasted success in their opening game in the new season, building on that victory this week will not be easy as they make the trip to take on the assertive Club Bruges.
The hosts are currently on a five-match unbeaten streak on home soil and have scored three or more goals in four of those clashes.
Club Bruges have also been sound in their defensive third and have picked up three clean sheets in the process while conceding no more than four goals.
On the other hand, Dynamo have not been as stellar as the hosts in their outings. Two of their previous five trips on the road have seen the visitors pick up the win by a slender one-goal advantage.
The guest have also scored just seven goals in their last five away games, which is just half of what Club Bruges have amassed in their previous five on home soil.
So the hosts are certainly sizing up as the favorites to clinch the win in their maiden clash on Tuesday.
Five of the last eight matches for Club Bruges at this venue have been high scoring ones, with the home team contributing two or more goals to the scorecard in all of those ties. Taking their impressive attacking run of form on home soil into consideration, it will certainly be safe to expect a high scoring clash to unfold at the end of the ninety minutes.
