Peter Green - January 31, 2019
Chelsea vs Huddersfield
England – Premier League
Date: Saturday, 2nd February 2019
Kick-off at 15.00 UK/ 16.00 CET
Venue: Stamford Bridge (London).
Bournemouth delivered one of the biggest reality checks to the Blues last match-day. The team which went unbeaten for 19 games on the trot, at the beginning of the season, never expected to get spanked by a mid-table team of the likes of the Cherries. But one thing that went their way was that almost all of the top-rated teams dropped points in one way or the other.
The Terriers better have booked tickets for the trip they have to take downtown, for they are sure-shots to get the boot this summer. All they have recorded till now is 11 points, and they are neck-deep in the exit zone by more than another 11. On top of that, they are taking on a former Premier League Champion. God have mercy on their souls.
It’s really a mismatch, and there’s nothing much hopeful for traveling fans this weekend. They are placed at the extreme end of the league table and are on the road against a wounded Blues, who will definitely take out their frustration on the minnows, and try to shut their haters up.
The team from London is unreasonably strong at their home, and it almost sounds unfair for the teams which take hikes to the Stamford Bridge. They have been unbeaten in 24 of their last 26 home-ties, and one of those losses came in a Community Shield Game.
Jan Siewert’s men were winless in 22 of their last 26 away ties (three wins came in friendlies), and are currently going through a six-match winless run on the road. They also failed to score a single goal in their last three matches away from home and registered just one in their last five.
The Blues, who are in an eternal battle for the final Champions League spot, with Arsenal, will decimate the visitors without mercy. I would advise the Terrier fans with heart diseases to skip this tie.
