Victor Dias - February 19, 2022
Celta Vigo vs Levante
Spain – La Liga
Date: Monday, 21 February 2022
Kick-off at 20:00 UK / 21:00 CET
Venue: Estadio Municipal de Balaídos.
Celta Vigo are in the midst of a solid run of games. Which has managed to put them in the top half of the Spanish Primera Division. However, with the closely competed situation in the mid table of LaLiga, every point could make a difference from here on.
They were last seen in an away fixture against relegation threatened club Cadiz, in a contest that concluded with a score line of 0-0. This marked the club’s 2nd draw in four league matches.
Gaining eight points from their last five league matches, they now occupy 10th position in the league table, seven points behind a spot that earns a shot in one of the UEFA competitions.
Levante have picked up a couple of wins since the turn of the new year but have lost every other fixture in 2022. While this might be far from anything amazing, their last five league matches account for over 42% of the total points the team has managed to pick up over the course of the season.
On their previous match day in La Liga, the club pulled off an amazing win against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano, in a contest that ended with a score line of 0-1.
However, with three consecutive losses preceding that fixture, the club is still rock bottom of the Spanish top flight, ten points behind the 17th place team.
The visitors did manage to grab a shocking win over a struggling Atleti team. However, I do not see them taking any points in this fixture. As prior to their trip to Madrid, they were on an eight match losing streak in away matches. Furthermore, their opponents are in good form, currently on a three match winning streak.
Iago Aspas is still going strong at the age of thirty four having reached double figures for the 6th consecutive season in La Liga. The Spaniard who is currently the league’s joint 4th highest goal scorer is my pick to score anytime.
