Hosts Cameroon will welcome Ethiopia to the Stade Paul Biya as the teams kickoff matchday 2 of the AFCON this Thursday.
With the home support behind them, there is very little to deny the fact that Cameroon are favourites to raise the trophy at the end of the tournament for the 6th time.
Ethiopia on the other hand have qualified for the competition after failing to do so in the previous three instalments of AFCON. Furthermore, they have not gone past the group stages since 1970.
The former defeated Burkina Faso 2-1 on matchday 1. While the latter lost 0-1 to Cape Verde after Yared Belay was sent off in the 12th minute.
Les Lions Indomitables have made it to the third round of the WC qualifiers after they topped their group with five wins and a loss. The nation now sits 50th in the FIFA rankings.
Having already qualified for the group stages of this competition as hosts they further went on to top their qualifying group.
Walia ibex fell behind Lesotho 1-1 on away goals in the first round of the WC qualifiers. They currently occupy the 137th position in FIFA rankings.
The nation made it to the group stages of AFCON after they finished 2nd in Group K, a point ahead of Madagascar.
The hosts are on a 5-match winning streak. It would be the upset of the tournament if a side that has one win in their last six fixtures manage any point in this fixture. Hence I have backed an Asian handicap in favour of Cameroon.
Les Lions Indomitables alone have scored an average of over two goals per game in their last five fixtures. It is unlikely we see less than three goals this Thursday.
