Bury vs Grimsby Town
England – League Two
Date: Saturday, 8 September 2018
Kick-Off at 15:00 UK
Venue: Gigg Lane (Bury).
Grimsby Town travel to Bury for their Matchday 7 clash on Saturday afternoon looking to build on a thriller 2-1 win over Notts County in EFL Trophy earlier this week, where they fell behind early on but bounced back with a penalty-kick equalizer from Mitchell Rose and a very late winner from Jake Hessenthaler.
Mariners have thus ended a five-game unbeaten streak across competitions, seeing a League Cup exit in the hands of Rochdale and bagging just two points in four league outings since then. Michael Jolley will now hope they can make use of such a confidence booster, though, and jump the rivals to their mid-table spot.
Bury have seen similar woes recently and suffered three losses in their last four outings but their home win over Morecambe last week surely shows they’ll be no easy side to beat at Gigg Lane. They’ve picked it up through their pre-season and now boast a five-game unbeaten streak here, including a League Two win over Yeovil Town and a draw against Forest Green Rovers seen more recently.
We will now back Grimsby to build on such records but only snatch an important point at Gigg Lane, sticking our necks out for a Draw at 3/1 (4.00).
Bury have struggled for consistency and this could prove costly regardless of their solid records in front of the home crowd.
We do feel the visitors will have to find the net to do so and we thus expect another thriller on their hands as we also back a YES on Both teams to score, which comes at 1.83 and could now be the best way to go about the game – with both sides struggling to keep clean sheets recently.
Draw @ 3/1 (4.00)
Both teams to score YES @ 6/7 (1.85).
