Steffen Schmidt - August 25, 2023
Burnley vs Aston Villa
English Premier League
Date: 27 August 2023, Sunday
Kick-off at 14:00 UK / 15:00 CET
Venue: Turf Moor (Burnley).
Burnley will search for their maiden points of the season on Sunday afternoon when they host Aston Villa at Turf Moor.
Clarets had a free weekend last time out since their trip to Kenilworth Road got postponed due to the conditions at Luton’s Stadium.
Vincent Kompany’s men opened the season with the toughest game possible, falling 0-3 to the reigning champions at Turf Moor.
We did see some exciting moments in front of Man City’s goal on the occasion but the gulf in quality between the two outfits was just too big for any other scoreline to happen.
This match could serve as a much better indicator of the Clarets strength, although Aston Villa also belong to the group of the tougher teams to face in the elite tier of English football.
The visitors head into this in the highest of spirits after bagging four goals past Everton seven days ago.
Villa showed strength and character to respond after a humiliating 5-1 defeat at the hands of Newcastle on the opening day of the season.
Unai Emery’s attacking line should have plenty of space to deliver on Sunday as Burnley’s defense does not seem to be at the best place these days.
Kompany’s men conceded three goals in each of the last two games they played, including a 0-3 defeat to German Bundesliga side Mainz in the last preseason check.
Aston Villa showed great performance last weekend against Everton in Birmingham. They have an intriguing attacking line led by Ollie Watkins, Moussa Diaby, and Leon Bailey who should cause the Clarets plenty of problems on Sunday.
The away win is paid at the 2.10 odds while we also like the Over 2.5 goals FT bet at the 1.80 odds knowing that both managers play attacking-minded style with these outfits.
