Steffen Schmidt - February 17, 2023
Brondby vs Horsens
Danish Superligaen
Date: 19 February 2023, Sunday
Kick-off at 17:00 UK / 18:00 CET
Venue: Brondby Stadion (Brondby).
Brondby will be looking to turn a corner after the winter break following a horrendous campaign in the opening 17 rounds of Danish Superligaen.
The 11-time Danish champions occupy the 10th position (out of 12 outfits) after 17 matches in the elite class football.
It is a highly underwhelming record for one of the biggest teams in the country. Naturally, the have decided to make the managerial change after such a dreadful run of results in the first half of the season.
Jesper Sorensen took over Niels Frederiksen on the bench and he will make his debut as the new head coach on Sunday afternoon when Brondby face bottom-half rivals Horsens at Brondby Stadion.
Horsens played the second-tier football last year and avoiding the immediate return to the 1st Division is their main goal for the season.
The visitors currently sit one point above Brondby in the league table and two points below sixth-placed Randers.
The fact that the top half teams are so close to these two sides allows Brondby to dream big and hope they can make it into the Championship Round with a strong run of results in the remaining five regular-season games.
Brondby’s chances grow if we know that Horsens are one of the worst travelers in the league. Jens Askou’s troops won one, drew one, and lost six of eight league fixtures on the road this term, scoring just four goals in the process.
Brondby have shown fine form in the recent matches at The Atlantic Cup where they claimed all three wins over AIK, Halmstad, and Viborg. Sorensen’s troops have bagged at least two goals in each of these three outings.
The hosts are ready for a brand new start under the new manager. We will back them to beat Horsens by two or more goals difference at the odds of 2.65. The second pick is Ohi Omouijanfo to score anytime at the 2.20 odds. The Norwegian forward has five goals in nine appearances for Brondby and he was also on target in the latest win over Viking at The Atlantic Cup.
