Aron Wright - April 26, 2021
Brentford vs Rotherham
England – Championship
Date: Tuesday, 27 April 2021
Kick-off at 18:00 UK/ 19:00 CET
Venue: Brentford Community Stadium.
The Bees have already ensured their qualification to the playoffs, and since they have mathematically ruled out a top-two finish, a direct promotion is out of question. Now, their objective would be to build some momentum before the post-season games.
They have scored the most number of goals in the competition, despite having a fixture in hand, and are also one of the only two squads in the Championship to have avoided a defeat in the last five matches.
Meanwhile, the Millers are placed 22nd in a table of 24 – right in the clutches of the relegation zone. They are on a long losing run, and are conceding goals in huge numbers.
They have also been on a struggling stretch on the road, and have dropped a lot of points in the process. They do have two games in hand, but need to make up a deficit of four points to climb over the relegation cut-off.
This has put them under a lot of pressure. They need to go after wins, and for a team that scores at will like Thomas Frank’s men – this scenario would be easy to exploit.
On top of that, the Bees also have a good h2h record against this rival over the years.
Likely, expect Brentford to emerge victorious this Tuesday, and count on them to score in plenty as well.
The Bees recorded a 0-1 win on the road the last match-day, against Bournemouth. In the meantime, Paul Warne’s men lost 1-0 on the road against Barnsley.
Going on, Frank’s men are on a nine-game unbeaten streak, and they had remained so in 20 of their last 22 appearances at home.
On the other hand, their opposite number are on a four-fixture losing streak, and they had remained winless in 13 of their past 16 match-ups – 12 of these were losses as well.
Finally, the Millers also have a poor h2h record against this foe over the years.
As such, expect Brentford to deliver a winning performance this Tuesday, and considering the desperation of Rotherham, expect goals in huge numbers too.
