Aron Wright - March 15, 2021
Bournemouth vs Swansea
England – Championship
Date: Tuesday, 16 March 2021
Kick-off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Vitality Stadium.
The Cherries are placed seventh in the table at the moment, and are desperately chasing a spot in the top-six (in order to qualify for the playoffs). As of now, they need a surplus of five points to climb to the sixth position, and the sixth-placed Barnsley is in terrific form.
However, Jonathan Woodgate’s men will place hope in the fact that they have a good h2h record against this opponent – particularly so at this venue. They have also scored in plenty in these games.
Meanwhile, the Swans have been one of the best in the whole Championship this season. They are placed third in the table at the moment, and in fact are tied in points with the second-placed Watford. While a top-six finish is almost assured for Steve Cooper’s men, a top-two finish would be optimal, as it would allot them direct entry to the PL.
Going on, the Swans have also been scoring at will on the road lately.
Taking these observations into account, expect a high-scoring thriller this Tuesday at the Vitality Stadium.
Woodgate’s men lost 2-3 at home the last match-day, against Barnsley. In the meantime, the Swans recorded a 0-1 win on the road against Luton.
Going on, the Cherries had found the back of the net in 12 of their last 13 overall games, and they did so in 16 of their former 17 appearances at home.
On the other hand, their opposite number are on a 16-match scoring run, and they have failed to score on the road just thrice since June of 2020.
In addition, most of the h2h meetings over the years have also had goals in huge numbers.
Taking these stats into account, along with the desperation of either squad to qualify for the playoffs, expect goals to come from both sides of the pitch this Tuesday.
