Steffen Schmidt - August 8, 2023
Bodo/Glimt vs Pyunik
UEFA Conference League Qualification
Date: 10 August 2023, Thursday
Kick-off at 17:00 UK / 18:00 CET
Venue: Aspmyra Stadion (Bodo).
Bodo/Glimt enter the UEFA Conference League third qualifying round tie against Pyunik as massive favorites according to the bookmakers but they will need to work hard to secure qualification to the playoffs round.
The Norwegian outfit are 1.22 to get the win in the first leg of the tie on Thursday afternoon at Aspmyra Stadion.
However, we must say that Pyunik have been on a significant rise as a club in the last couple of years.
The Armenians were only eliminated in the Europa League playoffs by Sheriff Tiraspol on penalties last year.
They then proceeded to claim the third place in the Conference League group with Basel, Slovan Bratislava, and Zalgiris, claiming three victories in six outings along the way.
Pyunik continued in the same fashion this time around, easily eliminating Narva Trans (5-0 on aggregate) before shocking Hacken via two wins in the Conference League second qualifying round.
With four wins in four European games this summer, we can by no means underestimate the Armenians who possess quality in the final third.
Knowing that Bodo/Glint generally tend to play attractive attacking-minded football, we have reasons to expect open affairs in this matchup.
Do not get us wrong, the Norwegians are still huge favorites, especially in the first leg on the home turf, but we can easily see the visitors on the scoreline on Thursday.
Bodo allowed two or more goals in all but one of the last five games in all competitions, including the weekend’s 3-2 loss at Viking, their second consecutive Eliteserien defeat.
The main pick will be Bodo/Glimt to win & Both Teams To Score at the 2.75 odds. The fact that the hosts have shipped two or more goals in four of the last five outings in all competition is enough for us to sway for this option.
Those who fancy safer variants can simply take the Over 2.5 goals FT pick at the odds of 1.66. This is the scenario that came through in five of Bodo’s previous six matches.
