Boca Juniors vs Atletico MG
Copa Libertadores
Date: Tuesday, 13 July 2021
Kick-off at 23:15 UK
Venue: Estadio Alberto J. Armando.
Boca Juniors are the reigning champions of the Argentine top flight, and are in form (especially at home). Meanwhile, Atletico had finished third in the Brazilian Serie A, and they too are on a superb run. Likely, expect a high-scoring affair this Tuesday between the two.
Boca had qualified to the Round of 16 as runners-up of Group C, and they had remained unbeaten throughout the campaign at home. Note that they had also scored in plenty at this venue in the last several weeks.
In the meantime, Atletico were the champions of Group H, and had absolutely dominated on their way to the top. They had a 100% winning record barring a single draw, and had a combined scorecard of 15-3 from their total six games.
In fact, the three remained teams combined could score just 11 goals in total from their group stage fixtures.
By the looks of things, expect a goal-fest this Tuesday at the Estadio Alberto J. Armando.
Boca were unbeaten in 30 of their past 37 overall matches, and one month back they had even gone on a five-game winning streak. Note that they have also lost just once at home since November, and had won seven of their preceding eight appearances at this ground.
On the other hand, their counterparts are on a four-fixture winning streak, and they had also won nine of their former twelve road trips.
Taking into account these stats, and the determination of the two to progress to the Quarters, expect a goals in huge numbers this Tuesday.
