Blackburn had a disappointing season last time out and consequently finished fifteenth in the table with sixty points in the bag.
The squad were inconsistent throughout their campaign and ended up picking up more defeats than wins in the closing stages.
Charlton, on the other hand, have every reason to be proud of themselves. They finished third in the league in the previous season and came out on top in the qualifiers to grab the final ticket to the championship.
The visitors were impressive in the third tier and were able to rack up seventy-three goals from forty-six games.
With the new season underway this weekend, Blackburn will be eying the strong possibility of taking down the newly-promoted side to get off to a positive start in their campaign.
The hosts scored thirty-two goals last season on home soil and admitted defeat in just six of their twenty-three games here.
Additionally, Blackburn lost just one out of their last five home games and were able to record three clean sheets apart from netting nine.
Charlton have not tasted success against this side in their last three meetings here as well, so it is certainly safe to back Blackburn to open their account with the win.
The visitors found the back of the net eight times in their last five outings, and have succumbed to a loss just once. Given that they have been an attacking presence in their trips on the road and the fact that will be keen on not going down without a fight, expect both the teams to get their names on the scoresheet in this one.
