Blackburn has been the best team in the Championship over the past few weeks. The club’s incredible form along with the poor performances of teams above them in the table have put the club in the title race.
With just a win in 22 matches, Barnsley who competed for promotion to the Premier League last season is destined to drop down to League One.
Rovers made it five wins in a row following their 4-0 destruction of Birmingham on the last matchday. Despite a questionable start to the season, the club has been destructive since their demoralising loss to Fulham.
Taking all points available to them in their previous five fixtures, the club is 3rd in the Championship, three points behind league leaders Fulham.
The Tykes were last seen holding West Brom to a scoreless draw at home. Having managed a couple more draws prior to the loss against Preston the club has managed to gain three points through their last five games, which is the joint-lowest tally in the league over the same period.
With only Derby behind them in the table, the club is 23rd in the league, seven points behind 21st place Reading.
The Blue and Whites are on a 5-match winning streak and are undefeated in seven league fixtures.
It would be a surprise if a club that is winless in away games this season and has lost six of their previous seven games, challenge them for any points.
Ben Brereton made eleven goal contributions last season through thirty appearances. However, the Chilean is having a breakout season this time around having scored nineteen goals already. With the slump in form Fulham has had, Brereton is now just three goals behind Mitrovic in the top scorers’ list. Expect the 22-year old to close down on the gap with Mitrovic by at least scoring once in the fixture.
