Peter Green - February 11, 2019
Birmingham vs Bolton
England – Championship
Date: Tuesday, 12th February 2019
Kick-off at 19.45 UK/ 20.45 CET
Venue: St. Andrew’s Stadium (Birmingham).
The Trotters, arguably one of the weakest teams in the competition, take a hike to Birmingham to challenge a side that has consistently dominated them over the years. On top of that, the team is notoriously poor on the road, with their last such win coming in August of 2018.
The Blues will try to inject some consistency into their performances, as their ambition to get promoted to the Premier League hangs in balance. They have really found life hard against top-tier squads, but have no such excuses this time around.
The Tuesday fixture will easily be one of the easiest they will have all season long, and the fans deeply wish their players capitalize on it.
Both come from either end of the league table, and with a different set of objectives in mind. The Blues want to qualify for the playoffs, while the other wants to survive in the league. Also, the favorites are even strengthened by their home advantage, which will rightfully tip the match in their favor.
The Wanderers being the worst goal-scoring squad in the Championship (their 20 goals so far being the fewest any team has recorded) will fail to score against Garry Monk’s men, who have posted impressive defense stats at home.
Since six of the last seven h2h ties ended with a 1-0 scoreline, and 16 of the last 18 wins came for a single goal, I tip the match to end in favor of the hosts with a repeated 1-0 scoresheet.
