Belgium vs Greece
International Friendlies,
Thursday, 3 June 2021
Kick-off 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Stade Roi Baudouin.
Belgium will play host to shocking 2004 European Championship winners Greece in the first of their two pre-EURO 2020 tests on Thursday evening in Bruxelles.
Belgium will come into the upcoming European Championship as one of the top three contenders.
They’ve deserved the tag with stellar displays in the last couple of years.
One of the strongest national teams in the world have topped their EURO Qualifications group with a maximum record of ten wins in ten games and a brutal goal difference of 40 scored and 3 conceded goals in the process.
They also topped their respective UEFA Nations League group with five wins in six outings (against Denmark, Iceland, and England).
Finally, Belgium took seven out of nine possible points at the start of the 2022 World Cup Qualification campaign, bagging eight goals in the demolition of Belarus in their previous action in March.
The team led by Roberto Martinez will be enormous favorites to pick up another victory here against Greece who have failed to qualify for the upcoming EURO.
Greece seem to have generally lost their identity in the last couple of qualifying campaigns. They have been struggling a lot to perform in the last several years.
Greece thus now belong to the UEFA Nations League Group C. They failed to earn a promotion by coming second in the group with Slovenia, Kosovo, and Moldova despite going unbeaten through the campaign (three wins and draws apiece).
The gulf in quality between the two teams is huge at the moment. Roberto Martinez will rotate his starting XI without doubts, but that might even represent a bigger problem for the visitors since all Belgians will be highly motivated to earn a better status within the team ahead of the European Championship.
We expect Belgium to dominate the pitch right from the first whistle and we thus see a great value in backing the hosts to have the lead at the half time and win the match at the end at the 1.80 odds.
