Barcelona will be looking to extend their winning thread on the last day of the year as they play host to Catalan rivals Espanyol in the 15th round of La Liga.
Blaugrana are two points clear at the top of the league table thanks to a five-win thread. Xavi’s men responded well after a tough defeat to Real Madrid in El Clasico.
They have picked up five straight wins since, conceding just one goal in the process. Barcelona own by far the best defensive record, shipping just 5 goals in the inaugural 14 games of the competition.
Xavi’s troops are yet to concede a goal in front of the home fans this season. They have six wins and one draw at Spotify Camp Nou this term (17-0 goal difference).
Espanyol are by no means a strong offensive side. They are just one point above the relegation zone at the moment with just 2 wins in the opening 14 outings.
The team led by Diego Martinez did not offer much in the final third in the recent games either. They scored only two goals in the previous three matches, despite facing the likes of Torino, Mechelen, and Atletico Paso.
Espanyol are also winless in five subsequent La Liga affairs. They fell 0-1 at home to Villarreal in the previous round back in November.
Barcelona are yet to concede a goal at Spotify Camp Nou this term. Espanyol have been struggling for goals both in recent exhibition games and in the first part of the season. We can only predict an easy win in a straightforward affair for the hosts.
