Aston Villa vs Rotherham
England- The Championship
Date: Tuesday 18th September 2018
Kick off at 19:45 UK/ 20:45 CET
Venue: Villa Park (Aston)
On one hand the statistics look good as Aston Villa come into this mid week game with just 1 loss in their last five games, but on the other hand they have a poor record because they have no wins, and all have been draws.
Villa drew again last weekend 1-1 against Blackburn Rovers and the draws are taking vital points from Steve Bruce’s side who are now in 12th place. But they are only 5 points from Leeds in 1st position. Villa have been linked with bringing back England legend John Terry but that has not been confirmed yet but they are unbeaten at home and Bruce will more than likely adopt a diamond formation in midfield and play two up front in search of all three points.
Rotherham are 14th and two places below Villa but could overtake them with a win here. They have already lost 4 of their opening 7 games which doesn’t bode well for the future but recent form has improved with 2 wins from their last 3. But the damning fact is that they have the worst away record in the league with 3 losses from 3 games and have scored just 1 goal but conceded 8.
Villa have been decent at home and the one major plus is that they are scoring goals even if they keep drawing as they have 12 already. Rotherham are very poor on the road and have a poor record at Villa Park.
Steve Bruce will set his team up to attack and we will back the home side to get the win. We will also look into the anytime goalscorer market which offers great value on a Villa player to get a goal.
