Sporting CP and Arsenal produced one of the most exciting clashes of last Thursday’s Europa League program as they drew 2-2 in the first leg of their round of 16 matchup in Lisbon.

Arsenal are big favorites ahead of the reverse outing in front of their fans at Emirates Stadium but they will need to be at their very best to advance past a very tricky rival here.

Sporting CP have shown their qualities once again last week when they refused to give up despite shipping an early opener against such a strong opposition and the current Premier League leader.

The Portuguese outfit continued to impress on Sunday when they eased past Boavista 3-0 to keep ground on Porto in the battle for the second-place finish in the Primeira Liga standings.

Arsenal have also confirmed their impressive attacking form by storming past Fulham 0-3 on Sunday afternoon at Craven Cottage.

Mikel Arteta’s men thus kept a five-point cushion on Man City at the top of the league table. Much like Sporting, the Gunners also have five wins and a draw in the last six games in all competitions and they have also notched two or more goals in five of these six affairs.
