Steffen Schmidt - August 1, 2023
Arsenal vs Monaco
Emirates Cup
Date: 2 August 2023, Wednesday
Kick-off at 18:00 UK / 19:00 CET
Venue: Emirates Stadium (London).
Arsenal will wrap up their preseason schedule on Wednesday evening when they head back to North London to take on French Ligue 1 side Monaco in the Emirates Cup tie.
The Gunners are seeking their seventh Emirates Cup trophy while Les Monegasques will be hoping to lift the maiden title after coming third in the 2014 iteration of the tournament, their first and only appearance here so far.
Arsenal are pretty big favorites going into the tie, especially after a brilliant attacking display in an empathic 5-3 win over La Liga champions Barcelona on the US soil.
Newcomers Kai Havertz, Jurrien Timber, and Declan Rice used time to gel in with the new teammates, something that Leandro Trossard has obviously already done in great fashion last season.
Trossard completed a brace against Barcelona on July 26th and we can already say that Mikel Arteta will have sweet worries regarding his starting XI for the upcoming Community Shield clash and the start of the Premier League season.
Monaco, on the other side, terminated a three-win streak with a disappointing 0-1 defeat at the hands of Serie A team Genoa on July 29th.
They had one of the weakest Ligue 1 campaigns in a while last season, finishing only sixth under Philippe Clement.
The team’s board decided to part ways with the Belgian manager after just one year, appointing the former Borussia Monchengladbach and Eintracht Frankfurt manager Adi Hutter at the helm.
Arsenal bagged five goals in two of the last three exhibitions and we have plenty of reasons to expect them to thrive in the final third against Monaco’s leaky defense that has allowed 58 goals in the previous Ligue 1 term.
Arsenal to win & Over 2.5 goals FT is our main betting option at the 2.30 odds while we also like the Gunners to have the lead at the half time and win the match at the end at the odds of 2.37.
