Arsenal vs Lyon
Emirates Cup- Final
Date: Sunday, 28 July 2019
Kick-off at 15:15 UK / 16:15 CET
Venue: Emirates Stadium (London).
Arsenal saw their two-match winning streak in the International Champions Cup come to an end in their last clash with Real Madrid. The Spanish outfit clinched the win on penalties after the teams were level at 2-2 by the end of regulation time and extra time.
The hosts had more than enough opportunities to take the lead in that tie, and were on target in eight of their nineteen attempts at goal.
Lyon came in third behind Lille in Ligue 1, with twenty-one wins from thirty-eight games. They were second best-attacking side in the league last season with seventy goals, thirty-two of which came in their trips on the road.
The visitors were handed an embarrassing defeat the last time the teams met here in this competition and will be hoping to take revenge on the English side when they lock horns this weekend.
The home team succumbed to a loss just twice on home soil last season and were able to score forty-two goals in the process while conceding just sixteen.
Arsenal thumped Lyon by a 6-0 scoreline the last time the two teams met here. They also scored eight goals in the recent Champions Cup, all of which certainly gives the hosts the cutting edge over their opponents to come out on top on Sunday.
Lyon were an attacking presence in their outings and actually fared much better in their trips on the road than at home.
So there is certainly reason to believe that both teams will be getting their names on the scoresheet by the end of the ninety minutes.
