Steffen Schmidt - February 8, 2023
Arminia Bielefeld vs Hansa Rostock
German 2. Bundesliga
Date: 10 February 2023, Friday
Kick-off at 17:30 UK / 18:30 CET
Venue: SchucoArena (Bielefeld).
Arminia Bielefeld celebrated a huge 1-3 victory over direct relegation rivals Jahn Regensburg seven days ago at Jahnstadion Regensburg.
The team led by Daniel Scherning thus found the best possible way to respond after dropping the ball in the first game after the winter break, in another six-pointer against Sandhausen (a 1-2 loss on the home patch).
Die Arminien will play the third consecutive important relegation six-pointer on Friday afternoon when they host Hansa Rostock in Matchday No 20.
Arminia escaped the red zone after the win in Regensburg and are now one point above the danger area.
Hansa Rostock, on the other side, sit just one point above Die Arminien in the bottom half of the 2. Bundesliga standings after 19 rounds.
Hansa had a very tough schedule in the first two post-World Cup games as they suffered straightforward 0-2 defeats to the likes of Heidenheim and Hamburger SV (both promotional contenders).
The main problem for head coach Patrick Glockner is the lack of attacking creativity. Hansa have the second-weakest offensive record in this term of 2. Bundesliga with just 17 goals in the opening 19 games of the competition.
They have failed to find the back of the net in four subsequent outings, including the mid-season friendlies against the likes of CSKA Sofia (Bulgaria) and Lech Poznan (Poland).
Hansa Rostock have been struggling to create chances since the beginning of the season and they do not seem to have fixed these issues during the winter break either.
We expect a tight affair in a big six-pointer that could determine both outfits’ fortunes in this term of 2. Bundesliga. Our main pick is Arminia Bielefeld to win & Under 2.5 goals FT at the 5.00 odds, while we will also go for the 1-0 correct score bet at the 8.00 odds.
