Argentina vs Colombia
World Cup Qualification – CONMEBOL
Date: Tuesday, 1 February 2022
Kick-off at 23:30 UK/ 00:30 CET
Venue: Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes.
Argentina have simply been on another level lately. Since their defeat in the semifinal of the 2019 Copa America, against arch-rivals Brazil, they have been remained unbeaten – and even went on and won the 2021 Copa.
As of now, they have already qualified for the World Cup, and are sitting comfortable in the second position. However, they would be against dropping their guard. The team will be keen to keep on winning, and thus build their momentum.
The reason being – they obviously have the World Cup coming up in Qatar, and they also will be eager to deliver the Copa Euro America – a one-off fixture against Euro champions Italy, in June.
Meanwhile, Colombia are going through a poor stretch of performances at the moment. Particularly on the road they have been a mess lately, and most importantly, they have a comparatively poor h2h record against this rival.
For the reasons, expect a win for the Argentines this Tuesday.
The Argentines just recorded a 1-2 win on the road against former Latin American champions Chile. They are also on a 28-game unbeaten streak, which extends back three years. Note that they had won 12 of the past 14 fixtures – one of which includes the Copa final against Brazil.
Do also note that the last they lost at home was four years back.
On the other hand, Colombia were held to a 0-0 draw at home, by Paraguay the last game week. They were also winless in 12 of their past 15 games, and they have a total of just two wins on the road in the past three years.
Moreover, they also have a poor h2h record against this rival over the years.
Taking into account these observations, expect a win for Argentina this Tuesday at their home.
