Aron Wright - August 15, 2018
Anderlecht vs Royal Excel Mouscron
Belgium – First Division A
Date: Friday, 17 August 2018
Kick-Off at 19:30 UK / 20:30 CET
Venue: Stade Constant Vanden Stock, Bruxelles.
Anderlecht will have a nice opportunity to maintain the perfect record after the fourth round given they are to open the Matchday with the home clash against the struggling Royal Excel Mouscron side. It will be the clash of David and Goliath as the top of the table outfit takes on the rock-bottomed team.
Mouscron played the Belgian Europa League play-offs last year, but they will face hard times saving the top flight status this time about, judging by the horrendous kick off to the campaign they’ve made.
Frank Defays’ troops lost each of opening three fixtures scoring just once in the process. It’s an underwhelming record knowing that the opposition included the likes of KV Oostende and Antwerp.
The hosts are thriving in the final third at the start of the new season and we have reasons to expect another catastrophe for Mouscron at Stade Constant Vanden Stock.
Hein Vanhaezebrouck’s men were prolific up front even without the main striker Lukasz Teodorczyk who is still sidelined due to injury.
Youngster Nany Dimata enjoys a thrilling form in his absence as the 20-year-old attacker bagged fur goals in three appearances so far.
Yet, Dimata is nowhere near being team’s top scorer as this summer’s acquisition Ivan Santini bagged as many as seven goals in opening three fixtures.
The Croat completed back-to-back hat-tricks against Kortrijk and KV Oostende and he was also on the scoresheet in a 1-2 victory over Sporting Charleroi last weekend.
We just can’t see how the struggling visitors could potentially stop such an in-form attacking line of Anderlecht’s and the home win by two or more goals difference is a must-take pick.
