On paper, the trip to Bilbao off the back of tough defeats to Barcelona and Juventus in the final two preseason exhibitions looked scary for Real Madrid fans.
In reality, Los Blancos eased past the Basques 0-2 courtesy of a couple of quickfire first-half goals from Rodrygo and Jude Bellingham. The latter has thus made a dream debut for the new team.
Carlo Ancelotti can be pleased with his team’s overall showing at San Mames Barria where Madrid allowed the rivals just seven attempts in the 90 minutes if play, only one of which hit the target.
Real Madrid will now have a nice opportunity to back up this win on Saturday evening when they visit Estadio de los Juegos Mediterraneos for the Matchday No 2 clash against Almeria.
Almeria have flirted with the relegation all season long in the previous term but somehow managed to rescue themselves.
They have lost an important piece of the puzzle after El Bilal Toure’s departure to Atalanta this summer but should still have enough to survive another top flight campaign with the current roster.
Head coach Vicente Moreno does have a lot to worry about in terms of his side’s efficiency because Almeria failed to find the back of the net in the opening day’s 0-2 defeat to Rayo Vallecano, despite creating numerous chances on the occasion.
Everything points towards an easy job for Carlo Ancelotti’s troops on Saturday and we have no other option but to back Real Madrid to have the lead at the half time and win the game at the end at the juicy 2.10 odds.
The Over 2.5 goals FT also looks like a great betting option at the 1.66 odds since this scenario has come in each of the previous seven head to head games between these rivals.
