Almeria vs Real Madrid Prediction & Match Preview

Steffen Schmidt - August 12, 2022

Almeria vs Real Madrid
Spanish La Liga
Date: 14 August 2022, Sunday
Kick-off at 21:00 UK / 22:00 CET
Venue: Estadio Juegos Mediterraneos (Almeria).

Almeria won the previous term of Segunda Division to secure the return to the elite class football after a seven-year absence.

The team led by Rubi will have the chance to enjoy a spectacular “new” debut in the top flight with the clash against the reigning champions Real Madrid on Sunday evening at their Power Horse Stadium – Estadio de los Juegos Mediterraneos.

Almeria had by far the best defensive record in the previous term of Segunda Division with 35 goals conceded in 42 outings.

It will be very interesting to see how this defensive line (the team’s main strength) will cope with one of the deadliest attacking lines not only in Spain but in whole Europe on Sunday.

Real Madrid enter the new season with the highest ambitions as always. They did not change much the squad that won both La Liga and UEFA Champions League last season.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team is actually even stronger having signed the likes of Antonio Rudiger (free transfer) and Aurelien Tchouameni from Chelsea and Monaco respectively.

Madrid did not play much football in the pre-season. They eased past Italian Serie A heavyweights Juventus in the final pre-season check two weeks ago on the US soil (2-0).

Almeria vs Real Madrid Head-to-head

  • Real Madrid have been the dominant force in the history of this matchup.
  • Los Blancos won 9, drew 2, and lost just 1 of the previous 12 meetings with Almeria.
  • Real Madrid have scored at least four goals in four of the previous five clashes against Almeria (a 38-10 total goal difference in 12 H2H matches).

Almeria vs Real Madrid Prediction

Almeria’s back line looked below par in the recent pre-season friendlies since the team allowed two goals in three of the previous four checks despite facing the likes of Cordoba, San Fernando CD, and Granada in the process.

Real Madrid should have plenty of space to deliver up front here. Karim Benzema was the last season’s top scorer in La Liga with 27 goals to his name. We will back the Frenchman to score anytime here at the 1.72 odds. You can also get Madrid to win in -1.5 Asian Handicap at the 2.05.

Almeria vs Real Madrid Betting Tips

  • Karim Benzema to score anytime @ 1.72 (8/11)
  • Real Madrid to win in -1.5 Asian Handicap @ 2.05 (21/20) odd.
